Plastic Foundation Insert Drone Comb

Popular for using the drone comb method to battle varroa mite.

Made from polypropylene, which is approved by the FDA for food contact.

It is also considered by the Environment Protection Agency (EPA) to be the safer choice than some other plastics. This plastic is BPA free.

Using plastic inserts are the way to go if you are looking for something more durable and easier to use than wax foundation.
Best used waxed. This will take away the small odour this product might give off, also gives the bees a head start in drawing of the comb.

For best results, coat insert with wax. Please take insert out of frame before doing so.
You can dip into hot wax, give a shake to get as much off as possible, then place into cold water to ensure the insert doesn’t warp.
Or you may roll it onto the insert with a paint brush/roller.
Approximately 70g should do the job.
Melt down wax and roll onto frame. Ensure the bottom of the cells contain wax for a better success rate.
Place insert into frame, then place into hive.
