Queen Marking Colour Code

We use 5 colours in a 5 year cycle.

The image above shows which year to what colour is used.

Please note that different queen breeder may mark their queens different to one another.

For example:

A queen breeder may use the white colour in 2021 and then swap to yellow in January 2022 while we are still in the 21/22 season.

This is used as a year to year basis.

Another queen breeder may use the white colour in September 2021 until January 2022. Then swap the colour to yellow in September 2022 until January 2023.

We call this changing colours from season to season.

All queen breeders are different and use different practices. If you are unsure what colour you will get with your queen, ask your queen breeder you are buying from.

Here at Beekeeping Supplies Australia we mark our queens with each colour, season to season.

For our 2022/23 season we will use the yellow colour to mark our queens from September 2022 until January 2023
