Foundation wax sheets are used in beekeeping to help give the bees a boost and head start in production.
Sheets are moulded in a hexagon pattern and embedded into the frame to prevent breakage, as well as keeping the sheet secure.
This then provides a surface for the bees to start building from, they then can begin producing honey or brood.
EMBEDDING WAX TO FRAME:
Use an embedding tool that is heated.
Run tool across the wire to heat.
The wire should then melt the wax onto the wire.
Do this to all wires on frame.
The wax has now been embedded onto the frame.
STOARGE AND CARE:
Under 18⁰C wax can be brittle and is prone to break very easily, if not cared for correctly.
Warm up before use. We recommend using a desk lamp or pop in direct sunlight for a short period of time. (5-10 minutes)
Over 30⁰C this product can become very soft and pliable.
Store on a flat surface. Do not store in direct sunlight.
Please handle with care.
Do not store in the fridge/freezer.
Here at Beekeeping Supplies Australia we are always looking to purchase 100% Australian pure beeswax from hobbyists or commercial beekeepers. Please ensure the wax is clean as possible and a golden-yellow colour. We do not take Brood comb or brown-chocolate coloured wax.
We buy wax for $9.00/kg + GST ($9.90)
We trade wax for foundation sheets, weight to weight and only pay $0.70 per sheet for milling.
We do not mill wax per order. We will automatically swap from what is available from the shelf that day.
